Itinerary

Day 1Arrival Queen Alia Airport—Madaba

Arrival at the Queen Alia International Airport in Amman, our airport representative is waiting for you and will assist you with the visa procedures. Visa is not included and costs 40 JD per person. The airport rep will walk with you through customs, to the luggage hall and will bring you to the driver in the arrival hall. Our driver waits for you in the arrival hall with a name sign. Transfer to a 3* hotel in Madaba for check in and overnight including breakfast.

Day 2Madaba—Petra

At 08.30 AM you will be picked up for the 3 hour transfer to Petra. Upon arrival in Wadi Musa you will be taken to the hotel where you can leave your luggage (early check-in if possible). A short walk takes you to the visitor center of Petra where our representative will purchase the entry ticket for you and book an English-speaking local guide and then you start your visit via the Siq, the Treasury, the Street of Façades and the Colonnaded Street. You can then still climb up to the Monastery or the High Place of Sacrifice. Today you will have dinner in one of the local restaurants (included) and you will meet your guide for the horse ride and the other riders. Overnight at a 3* hotel in Wadi Musa (Petra), including breakfast.

Day 3Start of the ride in the mountains

Today’s the day! At 8.30 AM you will be picked up at the hotel and taken to the starting point of the ride. In the mountains you start your adventure with great views over Petra. We always recommend wearing a riding helmet on the first day as the area is very rocky. You will be riding for about 3 hours via the villages of Taybet and Rajev, where you will enjoy the first lunch under Prince Hassan castle, in an area with natural springs and tree gardens with amazing views over Petra and Wadi Araba. After lunch we continue for another 2.5 hours via the viewpoint of Dilagha and then descending down into WadiThugra where we camp. Upon arrival, the horses get water and food and then you can set up your tent. A campfire is made and the first evening under the starts can be enjoyed!

Day 4To Wadi Rum

After breakfast you take down your tent, you brush and saddle your horse and the ride can start! We ride via a small Bedouin village and slowly but surely mountains become desert; we ride about 2.5 hours until we reach “the 3 trees”, the only shady place in this area where we have lunch. After lunch, we ride towards the village of Humayma, where we lead the horses across the Desert Highway; traffic is slow here and it’s easy to cross. Now we have arrived into the north part of Wadi Rum, the Kharaza area. Here are nice opportunities for a trot and a canter. The riding is about 2 hours to the camp location; a beautiful U shape rock formation and sandy area. Be quick to take the saddle of your horse, he can’t wait to take a good sand-bath. It’s the perfect spot to see the moon rise over the mountains and to see a beautiful sunrise the next morning.

Day 5Further into the desert

After breakfast, the third day of riding begins in a stunning part of the desert, far away from the tourist areas. Today we will see natural rock bridges, the “mushroom”, and inscriptions and there will be plenty of nice sandy roads for long canters. In the morning we ride about 2.5 hours to our shady lunch location. Again there is plenty of time to relax, enjoy lunch, maybe take a little nap, make pictures and enjoy the scenery. After lunch we continue on endless sandy roads, perfect for long canters. In this area the sand has many colors so keep those cameras ready! The afternoon ride will be 2,5 to 3 hours to the camp location; a small canyon, protected from the wind and nice and sandy for the horses.

Day 6Last day in the desert (4 day riding program)

Last day of riding! After breakfast we ride via mudflats, ideal for a nice gallop, towards the desert village of Disi. Before we reach the village we have our last lunch in the desert. In Disi are natural springs and this has made an oasis in the desert with high trees and grass. After lunch we ride via another mud flat to one of the camps near the village. Today at the end of the afternoon it’s time to say goodbye to your horse and to the team and you will spend the night at a Bedouin camp where you can wash away all the dust of the desert and where you will enjoy a nice dinner.

Day 7Dead Sea and Mabada (4 days riding program)

After breakfast, at 09.30 AM, you will be picked up for a 3 hour transfer to the Dead Sea. You will spend the afternoon at the Dead Sea Spa Hotel, where you have access to the beach, the pools and other facilities and where you will enjoy lunch at one of the hotel restaurant (drinks are not included). At 5 PM: Transfer to your hotel in Madaba via the scenic Mt. Nebo way through the hills. Overnight at a 3* hotel in Madaba, including breakfast.

Day 8Departure (4 day riding program)

The driver will pick you from the hotel 2,5 hours before the departure time of your flight, you need to check in 2 hours before departure and from Madaba to Amman airport is just a 25 minute drive.
